The course you have enrolled upon is one of our new age appropriate awards being offered by Lincolnshire FA as part of its commitment to the principles of Long Term Player Development.
This course is aimed specifically at those coaches who work with the 5-11 year old players and focuses as much upon the development of the child as it does upon football. Even though this module concentrates on the 5 – 11 age group many issues are carried over onto further modules and to complete further modules you must complete this first module.
This change of emphasis is quite deliberate as to be an effective coach of young players the coach needs to have an understanding of how young children grow and develop, how they think and learn and how the right training and playing environment can positively affect the player’s development. This will also allow coaches to address issues at a younger age because as they get older it becomes harder to resolve.
During the course, a series of workshops and practical activities will begin to increase your knowledge in these areas. They will demonstrate how the practical activities can be delivered using a range of strategies and techniques designed to enhance learning and understanding. This provides a coaching process that meets the needs of all young developing players. With this in mind, much of the course focuses upon the HOW and the WHY of coaching rather than just the WHAT.
