Disability Football

We are committed to enabling everybody to play our National Game and reach their potential as a Player, Coach, Referee or Administrator. The Disability Programme aims to establish opportunities for participation and offer quality provision for people with disabilities. The Football Development Team are keen to support any Club wishing to become more accessible to people with disabilities or wishing to establish a Disability Football Team within the Club.

Over recent times more emphasis has been put on disabled football from the FA and other organisations supporting football. The funding has been allocated to support organisations who work with disabled participants.

Within grass roots football, significant amounts of funding has been accessed by the Football League Trusts (formally known as football in the community).

Lincolnshire has three football league trusts who have employed officers who work specifically with disabled paticipants. They work at;

  • Lincoln City Sport & Education Trust
  • Scunthorpe United Sports & Education Trust
  • Grimsby Town Football In The Community

The Lincolnshire Disability Football Steering Group has been set up between the Lincolnshire FA and the Football League Trust officers and other organisations to support disability football.

The group meets to discuss how clubs and groups can support one an other, support the county league and any ideas that clubs may have had. Also with the group becoming constituted they can access funding to help support disability work.
