All participants that take part in 'Postive Pilgrims' weekly football, gym and multisport sessions were invited on this social experience whether they attended the weekly sessions regularly or not.
'Positive Pilgrims' faced 4 teams on the day. 'Everton Imagine Your Goals', 'Everton Inside Right, 'Tesco' & Beko'.
Up first for the Pilgrims were Tesco & Beko. The game ended in a goalless thanks to some brave and resolute defending by the Pilgrims.
The second game was against 'Everton Inside Right' and the match itself was a classic. The Pilgrims went down 2-0 early in the first half but lived up to their name with the final score being turned around into a 3-2 win for the team from Boston.
The following 2 matches were tight difficult affairs both ending up with 1-0 defeats for the Pilgrims.
After all matches had been completed, the teams took part in some group photos to promote social inclusion and wellbeing for people with mental health difficulties, as well as tackling discrimination.
After photos it was time to take seats inside Goodison Park to watch Everton v WBA, the game was comprehensively won 2-0 by Everton.
Richard Houghton said "Experiences like this continuously gel groups of people together, which really helps self-esteem and motivation. Everyone at Boston United would like to thank all staff associated with Everton for making us all feel exremely welcome and making the day a huge success."
