Women's football is the biggest female sport in England with more players competing in affiliated competition than any other sport.

There has been a huge increase in the number of players, clubs, leagues and competition since 1993 when the Football Association took over the governance of the game.

The FA funds 43 full time officers to specifically develop opportunities for girls and women who would like to progress within the game. These roles looks at developing player pathways for females to reach there full potential.

Currently within Lincolnshire there are three leagues catering for girls football, which then filters into the ladies league. The Lincolnshire County Women's League is the pinnacle of ladies football with 12 teams taking part this year.
