Market Rasen u17 Girls – 1
Wyberton Wildcats u17 Girls – 4
Wyberton Wildcats u17 Girls travelled to Sleaford Towns Eslaforde Park ground to compete in this inaugural plate final, against Market Rasen u17 Girls.
Despite having barely eleven fit players, the Wildcats started brightly threatening the Rasen goal from the off and opening the scoring through Sami inside four minutes. Gaby was now making frequent strong runs down the right side and provided several good opportunities for the Wildcats front pair. Further goals were not long in coming with Edwina grabbing a brace to see the Wildcats cruising at 3 – 0 after 20 minutes play.
Fortunes soon changed however when Wyberton suffered a double blow, loosing 2 players to injuries for the remainder of the half. Market Rasen made the most of their 2 player advantage and spent long periods in the Wildcats half, although the Wyberton defence stood firm in the face of determined pressure. With 5 minutes of the half remaining, Edwina broke through the oppositions defence for an individual goal that completed her first half hat-trick but Rasen countered with a goal on the stroke of half time following an un-cleared corner kick.
The second half saw a patched up Wildcats team restart well but further injuries early in the half again reduced them to 9 players. This left Wyberton to mount a rear guard action for the remainder of the game, organising their defence to deny Rasen few scoring chances whilst making seldom meaningful assaults on the opposing goal and giving a final result of 4 – 1 to Wyberton Wildcats.
