  • Minimum Age: 16 Years
  • Course Duration: Minimum of 18 Hours contact time
  • Price: £250 Per Candidate | £225 (Charter Standard Development / Club member) | £200 (Charter Standard Community Club member / FA Licensed Coach)
  • Frequency: 1 scheduled per year
  • Pre-requisites: Preferably attended the FA Level 1 Goalkeeping Course but not essential.  Minimum of  1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football

Who is this course for?

If you believe goalkeepers would stand a greater chance to play at their best if they were coached keeping skills then this is the course for you! This course is open to coaches over the age of 16 and once completed, will enhance their knowledge of goalkeeping techniques and provide the coach with the basic skills to deliver specific coaching for goalkeepers. 

What can I expect from the course?

21 hours in duration, the course will be tutored by a qualified FA Goalkeeping Tutor and is typically delivered across 3 full days (usually over 3 consecutive weekends). The FA Level 1 Goalkeeping course will include theoretical (classroom) and practical (coaching delivery) elements. The course will ensure you are equipped to; 

  • Have an understanding of specific warm up & cool down techniques for goalkeepers
  • Understand how to develop and improve the goalkeeper’s technique
  • Plan and prepare progressive technical practices
  • Growth & Development of young goalkeepers
  • Maintain health & safety of the players and other coaches

Your Assessment

You must successfully deliver 2 x 20 minute practical goalkeeping sessions. Prior to your assessment,  you must have attended all practical course dates and have all other final assessment pre-requisites including; valid certificates confirming your completion of the FA Safeguarding Children, FA Emergency First Aid workshops and Laws of the Game (online). If you do not hold a valid certificate for either/all, you should obtain these by booking onto the courses or completing the online Laws of the Game online module prior to starting the Level 2 Goalkeeping Coaching Award.
