ACCESS PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT TO IMPROVE AND MAINTAIN YOUR GRASS FOOTBALL SITE
The need for this service is more relevant now than ever, given the current economic times and the pressures facing grassroots football.
The FA Facilities & Investment Team have been working in partnership with the Grounds Management Association (GMA) to develop a Grass Pitch Improvement and Maintenance Programme that can be utilised by grassroots football clubs, organisations and local authorities with the simple aim of improving the quality of grass pitches. The key principles behind the service are to provide members of the programme with advice/practical solutions via a Grass Pitch Assessment Report which will also identify the key enhanced maintenance works required along with machinery requirements.
If a site is categorised as Poor or Basic on their Grass Pitch Assessment Report (GPAR) they are then eligible to apply for Grass Pitch Funding through the Football Foundation. This is a game-changing opportunity and for the first time ever, sites can get access to the funding they need in order to improve their pitches. The new funding package window opened on the 5th December 2019, and thus far sites in Lincolnshire have been successful in obtaining £634,449 investment into Grass Football Pitches across the County. The funding opens up the opportunity for sites to invest in enhanced maintenance services, funded at 66% of the total cost and or machinery grants at 75% of the total cost.
A number of professional groundsmen have signed up to become part of Grass Pitch Improvement Programme support network and will therefore be available to conduct site visits.
If you believe your site would benefit in becoming part of the FA Grass Pitch Improvement Programme, the below documents are your next step.
• The Pitch Improvement Programme Process document will take you through, step by step, what is required

HIVE GROUNDSKEEPING APP
Groundskeepers from around Lincolnshire can now showcase their work on the Football Foundation's new app.
The Football Foundation recently launched the new Football Foundation Groundskeeping Community and App. This is the first of a number of support tools to support grass pitch improvement and the site has been developed in partnership with the FA and Groundskeeping Management Association (previously named Institute of Groundsman) to support volunteers and qualified groundskeepers to maintain pitches.
This is a collaborative space that will:
• build knowledge and understanding on key operations of pitch maintenance throughout the year
• connect with fellow groundskeepers and share experiences
• seek expert advice on getting the most from the pitches groundskeepers manage
The link below will allow you to access the site free of charge and has a welcome message from Karl Standley, Head Groundsman at Wembley Stadium. Once registered, the Hive Learning app for iOS or Android is the easiest way to access the community on the go.
