Gainsborough Trinity Foundation visited the home of the England national teams, St George’s Park, over the Easter holidays to have a tour of the facilities and enjoy football coaching sessions.
In what proved to be a fantastic experience for all involved, children at the Foundation received football coaching and were involved in several fun football sessions. A tour of St George's Park was then delivered before both the children and adults were treated to a meal.
The tour began in the changing rooms, where the England players get changed before and after training. The team then went to the warm up/athletics track, saw the recovery pool (with the famous unicorns), the full-size indoor AstroTurf pitch and the ‘Sir Bobby Charlton Pitch’, which is a replica of the Wembley pitch.
The children then got to play futsal at the England National Futsal team’s home stadium and also played football on the ‘David Beckham Pitch’ outside.
For some, this truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity, so hopefully it inspires the youngsters to strive for sporting success.
