Youth Leagues

In Lincolnshire there are 10 youth leagues that affiliate and are sanctioned to provide football. All the leagues currently are solely youth leagues and are not linked to existing adult leagues.

After the recent announcements from the FA following the Youth Review it is an important time leading up to the 2013-14 season where numerous changes will be introduced. New formats such as 5v5 and 9v9 will now be played and the design of competitions will evolve to eliminate the one season competition.

The ideas behind these changes are to look into player development by increasing the number of touches players get, develop confidence and link into the Long Term Player Development Model. The Lincolnshire FA will work with the youth leagues to discuss how formats will run and support in the transition over the next season.

Furthermore the Lincolnshire FA also wants to assist and achieve in the following areas through league development:

  • Increase participation throughout the leagues
  • Increase the number of FA Charter Standard Clubs
  • Increase the number of FA Charter Standard Leagues
  • Increase the coverage of referee’s within leagues
  • Raise the standards of Welfare
  • Increase the awareness of the Respect Programme
  • Promote the FA’s Education Programme to all communities
  • Develop and support the governance of the game
