The FA Skills Programme

The FA Skills Programme is a unique football coaching programme that gives all children in Lincolnshire, aged 5-11 years old, of all abilities, the opportunity to get active, learn new football skills and enjoy the game in a positive learning environment. The programme has been providing high quality football coaching sessions for children since 2007 and has to date provided over 3 million child places on the programme nationally.

The FA Skills Programme is a nationwide initiative run by The Football Association and provides Schools, Skill Centres and Holiday coaching along with offering support for Charter Standard Clubs. The aim is to develop better and more technically gifted players but also to give every child the opportunity to be the best they can be.

Meet The Team

 Kev Sanders

Kevin Sanders - FA Skills Team Leader (Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire)

Kevin currently holds a FA Level 2 and Youth Module 2 coaching award with plans to complete the UEFA B and Module 3 by 2015. He started coaching when he was 16 through a young leadership scheme in Staffordshire, while playing for his local grassroots team. Previously Kevin was Football Development Officer at Nottinghamshire FA. Kevin currently coaches at the FA Centre of Excellence for Cerebral Palsy Players in the East Midlands, Working with players aged 11-16 years old and continues to learn  his skill set in grassroots footballs .                                                                          

 Iain Newton

Iain Newton  - FA Skills Coach

Iain began coaching for Worksop Town Junior Football club, a community Charter Standard club in 2007 and took the role of Chairman and head of development in 2010 before joining the skills programme. Iain is a level 2 qualified coach and has completed the FA Youth Award modules one and two. 

 

 Lee Rostron

Lee Rostron - FA Skills Coach 

Lee first got in to coaching through his sons grassroots football team. From there he went on to work with Peterborough United football in the community. After this Lee and his family moved to Lincolnshire where he started his own coaching business. Lee is a UEFA B licenced coach he has also completed his FA Youth Award Module, one, two and three, as well as completing his disabled footballers course.

 Sophie Barker

Sophie Barker - FA Skills Coach

Sophie graduated university in 2012 in a BSc in Sports Development  and Coaching. Sophie's love for football developed at a young age playing for a local boys team until she was 15 when she played her first of many games for Lincoln Ladies. She played for Lincoln ladies when they moved into the WSL for 3 years, then the transformation into Notts County. Sophie currently holds The FA Level 2 Youth Award Mod 2 and Multi Skills Level 2.
