First Referee Development Session Hosted Online by The FA
The FA hosted its first Online Referee Development Session this week, giving referees the opportunity to learn vital skills from the comfort of their own homes.
Taking place on Tuesday 24 March, the session was hosted by The FA’s National Referee Development Manager Farai Hallam, and detailed numerous crucial aspects of officiating.
The aim of the session was to offer referee development so that officials are well-prepared for when football returns following the coronavirus pandemic.
Specifically, various aspects were investigated including an update on the state of the game amidst COVID-19.
Participants then took part in a multiple-choice quiz to test their knowledge of the Laws of the Game, whilst also being tested on their foul recognition. Watching numerous video clips, learners were expected to identify careless, wreckless and excessive force.
The skills of stopping serious foul play and controlling a match were then also discussed in more detail.
