Friday Night Futsal up and running

Sessions take place at Lincoln College (Deans Sport & Leisure) between 7-8pm

We’re delighted to say that the first ‘Friday Night Futsal’ Just Play session at Lincoln College was an overwhelming success.

The first session attracted 13 people from across the county, some of whom were experiencing futsal for the first time, for an hour of laid back and enjoyable futsal activity. English, Portuguese and Polish players were all present and the session was played in great spirit by all, resulting in good fun and new friendships.

The ‘Friday Night Futsal’ Just Play sessions are being delivered through the Sir Isaac Newton Futsal organisation who have a rich history in delivering futsal specific events, including tournaments & training sessions.

The sessions take place at Lincoln College (Deans Sport & Leisure) between 7-8pm and are open to anyone above the age of 16.

If you, as an individual, or as part of a group of friends, wish to get involved with futsal, stay fit or meet new friends, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Futsal is an intense, exciting format of the game which supports and encourages ball skill, flair and creativity amongst a host of other attributes, including fitness and decision making.

Jake Park, Lincolnshire FA Football Development Officer (Male Pathway), said: “To have 13 individuals at the very first session is an excellent start. It’s important that there’s a futsal offering available in Lincoln because there’s certainly a demand for it, and with COVID-19 halting our plans to deliver a futsal league, this is the perfect alternative to get people involved. Paulo has done a brilliant job in ensuring the Friday Night Futsal sessions are welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable, so do not hesitate to book on and get involved.”

Paulo Pires, Just Play Organiser, added: “The first ‘Friday Night Futsal’ Just Play session really was a great success. It was so pleasing to see people turn up from all walks of life, spend an hour having fun playing futsal and leaving with a smile on their faces. This is a great way to meet new friends, stay fit & healthy, and enjoy the beautiful game of futsal. Anyone is welcome and we hope to see more new faces at the next session on the 26th November, so get booked on!”

The FA Snickers Just Play programme provides the casual footballer a chance to turn up to a venue and play football or futsal. The Just Play kickabout is recreational futsal at its best – it’s about turning up for an hour of exercise and a bit of fun. It’s an alternative participation opportunity for those who can’t or don’t want to commit to an eight-month long season of matches and training.
