Epworth Colts Girls Football Celebration
On Monday 7th November, Lincolnshire FA held a girls football celebration for all our female teams at Epworth Colts. We joined together in a fun filled night to celebrate our fantastic girls football teams.
We were joined by 3 Doncaster Belles first team players; Oti, Olivia and Shannon, as well as Alan Brown (Belles media and matchday volunteer). They were fantastic in getting involved in all the games with the girls and even gave everyone free tickets to the Belles next home game. Our players loved having photos and a chat with all the players at the end.
We also had 3 players join us from Brigg FC; this really helped our older girls to see a future in football and the potential of what could be next for them.
On the night, we organised lots of activities – not just football! We played Bombard (a fun game involving a giant yoga ball), kick rounders, cross over, mini matches, and held a penalty shootout against the Belles players. We also had stocks for the girls to sponge their coaches which they thoroughly enjoyed!
The night included free hotdogs and refreshments in the pavilion with colouring activities and a slideshow of photos of all the girls playing football. The night was a great success, and we had some fantastic feedback from the parents and girls and are looking to do another event in Easter/Summer.
Cissy Radford, Lincolnshire FA Women and Girls Football Development Officer, said: "It’s so brilliant to see Epworth Town Colts put on an event to celebrate all the girls and women that play at their Club. Their commitment to prioritising girls’ football has been fantastic, and an event like this is an amazing way to bring everyone together and show that the Club really values everyone that plays there."
