North Lindum Hawks

Women’s Just-Play & Wildcats Initiative

Putting the spotlight on the fantastic work at North Lindum Hawks FC!

North Lindum Hawks FC are a grassroots football club based on the North edge of the historic city of Lincoln. Alongside the large number recreational players at the club, they have in excess of 300 FA registered players competing in mixed teams within the Co-op Midlincs County Youth League.

HERE'S WHAT THE CLUB HAD TO SAY...

As an England accredited, community football club we have always had a policy of being ‘A football Club for all’.

As the female side of the game grows, we appreciated that we were underrepresented within the county for the provision of female only opportunities. To increase our provision in a sustainable manner a decision was made to commence with the Wildcats Session for the 5-11 y/o age groups, with the club’s vison to form girls-only teams as the numbers and the demand increases.

During the initial advertising for Wildcats we receiving a growing number of enquiries asking if we had a women’s team. After listening to these requests and working alongside Cissy at the CFA, the North Lindum Hawks Women’s Just-Play session was born. To make both the Just-Play and Wildcats sessions more accessible and female friendly, a conscious decision was made to group the female only sessions at the same time.

Alongside new members joining the club for the Just-Play session, it has allowed the female parents & guardians of the Wildcats girls to join in a fun and inclusive session to learn and play football without impacting on other precious family time.

As we now enter the second month of the female only provision, attendance for both groups is increasing week on week. The initial feedback we have had from the kids is that they really enjoy the sessions, with the parents sharing that it has helped with the confidence of their children having their mums playing on the adjacent 3G pitch at the same time.

Cissy Radford, Lincolnshire FA Women and Girls Football Development Officer, said: "I’m so excited by North Lindum Hawks’ new initiative to bring Wildcats and adult female recreational football together. It’s a fantastic opportunity for women to play football in a safe environment, for mums and female carers of players to get involved, and for young girls to see first-hand other women playing. I hope that the initiative is adopted by other Wildcats providers across Lincolnshire."
