High quality Futsal at Lincolnshire Qualifiers

Congratulations to 780 Coaching who won both the U14 & U16 local qualifying competition strands as part of the FA Youth Futsal Cup!

On Saturday 6th May, Lincolnshire FA hosted the FA Youth Futsal Cup qualifiers for the U14 & U16 boys’ competition at Priory Pembroke Academy in Lincoln. Both competition strands were overseen by the excellent match official team of Ian Vaines & Kyle Tasker.

Futsal Cup780 Coaching U14s won a high quality tournament in the morning, beating Corinthians Juniors in a tight affair during the first fixture before a strong second half display against Boston United saw them finish in first place.

In the afternoon, 780 Coaching made it a double as their U16 team won all three fixtures, beating St. Helens, Boston United & Discoveries Vipers respectively. Recognition must be awarded to St. Helens & Boston United, both of whom were playing futsal for the first time, as well as Discoveries Vipers who gave a fantastic account of themselves despite playing an age group higher.

Northgate Olympic Girls will once again represent Lincolnshire in the U16 competition strand following their fantastic exploits in this tournament last season as they progressed into the National Final, and the winners of the U10 boys’ competition was invitational club East Riding Futsal Club.

The regional competition strand is overseen & delivered by The FA, taking place at Moulton College in Northamptonshire across the weekend of 10th & 11th June.

Jake Park, Lincolnshire FA Football Development Manager, said: "I think the event on Saturday really demonstrated what a fantastic format of the game futsal is and the various benefits which are attached to it. It was great to see so many talented young players on the pitch, but even more pleasing to see how much fun & enjoyment they’d had by the time they came off it.

"We had teams competing who play in the Grimsby Futsal League each week (some playing up an age group!) as well as teams who were playing futsal for the very first time, showing that futsal is for everyone. Each player was a credit to their club.

"A great deal of credit must also be given to the match officials, Ian Vaines & Kyle Tasker, both of whom we were very fortunate to have support the event and were excellent across both competition strands. I’d like to place on record my thanks to both of them for their effort & general support.

"Finally, congratulations to 780 Coaching and all other local competition strand winners, we wish them the very best of luck in the Regional Qualifiers in June as they represent Lincolnshire."
