Lincolnshire Lionesses Leadership Course Launched For 2024

We are delighted to share our latest opportunity for aspiring female leaders

The female game across the world is growing all the time and the need for volunteers is ever increasing, with Lincolnshire being no exception. Lincolnshire FA, alongside the Barclays Girls Football School Partnerships, are delighted to share our latest opportunity for aspiring female leaders: The Lincolnshire Lionesses Leadership Course.

This opportunity includes an online and totally free of charge leadership course that has been developed by the Youth Sport Trust and The FA through the Girls’ Football School Partnerships of Greater Lincolnshire, who have provided quality content to give the best available leadership training to girls aged 14+.

There will be the opportunity to gain qualifications as well as progress to national training and only requires a few hours of commitment!

About The Programme

This programme runs across Lincolnshire to give females, aged 14+, the opportunity to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of female sports development in Lincolnshire and be a role model to other females. This training will help them to be able to deliver activities, along with opportunities to network with like-minded leaders across the county. Girls involved in this programme could, if they wanted to, also follow the county and national programmes and attend further events and training.

The Lincolnshire Lionesses programme has been developed to understand the skills and personal qualities of different, varying roles that you may come across in a sports career.

All of those that complete the course will receive a Lincolnshire Lionesses t-shirt and a certificate.

This unique leadership course has the following modules:

UNIT 1 – BEING A LEADER
UNIT 2 – PHYSICAL ACTIVITY DECREASE
UNIT 3 – LEADERSHIP THROUGH FOOTBALL
UNIT 4 – DIFFERENTIATING AND SOLIVING PROBLEMS
UNIT 5 – FINAL PROJECT
UNIT 6 – RISK ASSESSMENTS
UNIT 7 – EVALUATION AND SELF REFLECTION

The first 4 modules are online and allow girls to consider the impact they can have as they develop into young adults, and the final three modules allow them to experience coaching for the first time and put their realised leadership skills into practice. In instances where this course is undertaken in schools, the County FA connects the girls to their nearest Wildcats provider or grassroots club who they can build and continue a relationship with. One of the greatest benefits of this course is allowing those community connections to happen and bringing people together for the good of the game.

Ultimately, the benefit of this course is quite simple: we are giving girls an opportunity that they wouldn’t have otherwise had.  We are bringing new footballing opportunities to girls, and we are allowing girls to see their value in society, their power as a female leader and their potential.

Of course, coaching opportunities are available for any of these girls when they want them. But we believe that we took our understanding of young girls (that their insecurities and fears will more times than not get the better of them), and we provided them with the confidence boost and the springboard they needed to take that step.

If we sit back and expect girls to come to us and want to become coaches, knowing what we know about barriers and perceptions, then we believe we will be waiting a long time.

Kirsty Dixon, Football Development Officer (Women & Girls) at Lincolnshire FA, said: "The Lincolnshire Lionesses Leadership Course is going into its third season after great success and engagement in 2022 and 2023. We are looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of leaders.

The course gives girls an opportunity grow their knowledge, confidence and understanding of the game, allowing them to explore different avenues and opportunities for the future".

We hope you can get behind this initiative as we work towards equal access to football for all. Thank you for your ongoing support.
