LGBTQ+ Workshops Announced For Football v Homophobia Month 2024

The workshops are lined up for Thursday 15th February and Tuesday 27th February 2024

Lincolnshire FA are pleased to announce the next two LGBTQ+ workshops, focused on LGBTQ+ Inclusion in football, during the Football v Homophobia campaign.

The workshops are for anyone involved in football in Lincolnshire, with the first taking place on Thursday 15th February 2024 from 6pm to 7:30pm. The second will be on Tuesday 27th February 2024 from 6pm to 7:30pm, both of which are hosted online via Microsoft Teams.

Attendees only need to attend one of the workshops.

Football v Homophobia exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels in football. As an international initiative, FvH engages in campaigning, education, advice and guidance, research, policy consultation and capacity building to:

1. Make existing football structures safe, welcoming and inclusive for LGBTI people
2. Create opportunities and promote engagement of LGBTI people in football at all levels and in all forms
3. Improve the representation and visibility of LGBTI people throughout football
4. To realise the potential of football in society as a tool to create positive change

Lincolnshire FA's LGBTQ+ workshop is designed to improve your knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community, covering topics including:

• What does LGBTQ+ mean?
• Why is LGBTQ+ Inclusion important?
• Discrimination
• What does an inclusive environment look like?
• How does this vary at different age groups?
• An introduction to the Lincolnshire FA LGBTQ+ Accreditation

The workshop is around an hour and a half in length and will empower the attendees in being an ally for LGBTQ+ individuals and developing an inclusive club environment.

The workshop is also an essential criteria for clubs wishing to become an LGBTQ+ Inclusive Accredited Club.

Jordan Mason, Football Development Officer (Disability & Inclusion), said:"After the success of our LGBTQ+ Inclusive Accredited Club Programme and LGBTQ+ Inclusion workshops last season, it's great to see that this piece of work is continuing into 2023/24. Following on from last season's incredibly successful Football v Homophobia month of action and Lincolnshire FA's engagement in that, we're really pleased to be able to deliver these two workshops and look forward to discussing LGBTQ+ inclusion with our attendees."

The workshops are part of Lincolnshire FA's month of action for Football v Homophobia, which also features an FvH Festival at Lincoln City on Sunday 11th February 2024. Details of this can be found here.
